Regulatory updates and accident analysis (2 hours)
- Updates to Presidential Decree 177/2011 and the ministerial circulars that followed
- Statistical analysis of fatal accidents in confined spaces in Italy: recurring causes and critical points
- Case studies: reconstruction of real incidents and identification of procedural errors
- Developments in detection instruments and the technical standards of reference
Operating procedures and management of the work permit (2 hours)
- Critical review of the work permit: frequent errors in completing and managing it
- Update on decontamination and preventive ventilation procedures
- Role and responsibilities of the external attendant: update and borderline cases
- Coordination with outside firms and management of contracts in confined spaces
Practical refresher tests (4 hours)
- Review of the correct use of multi-gas detectors: calibration, readings and instrument limits
- Exercises in donning PPE under simulated urgency
- Non-entry rescue tests with tripod-and-winch systems: techniques and errors to avoid
- Emergency scenario simulation: communication, alerting the rescue services, management of the casualty
- Individual practical assessment with training feedback
Objectives
To update and consolidate the skills of personnel already qualified to work in confined spaces, reinforcing awareness of the risks through the analysis of real incidents, and verifying that operating and emergency capabilities have been maintained by means of structured practical tests.
