DVR vs safety check-up: when one is enough and when you need both
The DVR (risk assessment document) is a legal obligation under Article 28 of Legislative Decree 81/2008. The safety check-up is a voluntary preliminary audit tool. Comparison, use cases, integration.

When a check-up is useful
- Before acquiring a company (M&A due diligence).
- Change of contractor in a high-risk sector (logistics, construction sites).
- Internal audit in preparation for an ATS / INL inspection.
- Onboarding a new RSPP, to capture the starting position.
- Trigger for an extraordinary DVR when the check-up finds critical issues.
When it does NOT replace the DVR
Never. The check-up is an early-warning tool that identifies areas where the DVR may be out of date or incomplete. The legal document remains signed by the employer together with the RSPP and the occupational physician.
